UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - For the second time this season, University of Richmond swimmer Mary Adams earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors after a stellar performance at the University of Virginia Invitational last weekend.
Competing in four events, Adams broke the school record in three and finished .05 seconds away from setting the fourth. She set the all-time Richmond mark in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05), the 400-yard individual medley (4:20.96) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.54). All three times are the best in the A-10 this season.
The Williamsburg, Va., native posted a time of 2:22.01 in the 200-yard breaststroke, falling just shy of the record she set earlier this year. She holds the top-5 times in program history for that event.
Adams led the Spiders to a third-place finish in the meet that featured nine teams.
Richmond returns to action on January 18 when the Spiders host St. Francis (Pa.) in the University of Richmond Natatorium.
