James Madison Tops Richmond, 66-63

Trailing by seven with 10:19 left in the game, Richmond senior forward Greg Stevenson (Fayetteville, N.C./71st) would slice away at the Dukes, scoring 12 of the Spiders next 17 points of the contest. Stevenson's baseline jumper with 1:55 on the clock gave Richmond its first lead of the second half, 59-58. The Dukes responded as Ron Anderson drained a three-pointer with 1:21 to once again give them the lead (61-59). Stevenson would again take control, as his driving eight-footer tied the contest at 61-61 with 37.5 seconds remaining. Lyle's trey from just behind the arc at the top of the key gave James Madison its final lead of the night.
Early foul trouble plagued the Spiders in the first half, as the Dukes led by as many as eight points on two occasions in the half. James Madison guard David Fanning connected on three of his five three-pointers in the first stanza as the Dukes led by two at intermission, 34-32.
Richmond's Stevenson led all scorers with 20 points. For the Dukes, Fanning scored 17 points while Lyle added 12 points. James Madison tied a season-high draining nine three-pointers in the game.
