Stauffer Named CAA Pitcher of the Week

Richmond, Virginia - University of Richmond freshman righthander Tim Stauffer has been named Pitcher of the Week in the Colonial Athletic Association.
A native of Saratoga Springs, New York and a 2000 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Stauffer earned his sixth win of the season last Friday with a dominating performance against Norfolk State at Pitt Field. He went 8.0 against the Spartans and allowed three hits, all singles, and no earned runs. Stauffer held Norfolk State hitless through the first five innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out eight as Richmond posted an 8-1 victory.
Stauffer is tied for the team lead in wins with six. He owns a 6-4 record with one save and a 3.88 ERA. In 72.0 innings, Stauffer has allowed 64 hits with 18 walks and 65 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .234 against him. He has allowed just one earned run in his past 17 innings with seven hits, four walks and 19 strikeouts.
The Spiders, under 17th-year head coach Ron Atkins, have won six of their past eight contests. Richmond is 24-22 overall and 7-10 in the CAA. The Spiders are not scheduled to play this week because of final exams. Richmond will play a three-game CAA series at The Diamond against VCU this weekend. The Spiders and Rams will play at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 and will play a doubleheader on Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m.
