Murphy Tabbed as Women's Lacrosse Coach

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. --The University of Richmond has announced the hiring of Sue Murphy as the head women's lacrosse coach. Murphy, the former head coach at Boston University, will take over a Spiders' program that returns eight starters.
Murphy, who launched the women's lacrosse program at Boston University to the Division I level six years ago, led the team to national rankings of 17th, 11th and 13th the past three seasons. The Terriers posted an 11-8 record this past season and advanced to the America East tournament championship game. In 2000, Murphy directed the Terriers to the America East regular season and tournament championships and led them to an NCAA at-large berth. Murphy was twice named the America East coach of the year.
In addition to her duties at BU, Murphy is the head coach for the U.S. Developmental Team, College Coaches Representative for US Lacrosse and a member of the Board of Directors for Metrolax. Murphy previously coached at Muhlenberg College (1992-95) where she was the head lacrosse and field hockey coach.
Murphy received a bachelor of science degree in Sport Management from University of Massachusetts in 1990.
