Richmond Lacrosse Coach Sue Murphy was inducted into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame on September 27, 2002 in a ceremony held at the Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
In her first year at Richmond, the 2002 squad posted a 12-6 record and advanced the championship game of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Previously, Murphy served as head coach at Boston University where she launched the women's lacrosse program into Division I and brought the team to national prominence. For three consecutive seasons the Terriers were ranked in the top twenty in national polls. In 2000, Murphy led the team to an American East championship and a NCAA at-large berth.
A native of Boyertown, Pa., Murphy was a two-time All-American at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Serving as captain her senior year, she was honored as Team MVP after finishing her career as the school's all-time leading scorer.
