Women's Soccer Push Past Fordham, 1-0

UNVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- The University of Richmond won its fourth straight, its longest win streak of the season, posting a 1-0 win over Fordham on Saturday night at First Market Stadium. With the victory, the Spiders improve to 7-2-0 in Atlantic 10 play and 10-4-2 overall. The Rams fall to 6-11 on the season, 2-7 in A-10 action.
Sophomore Whitney Sikes (Gastonia, N.C.) booted the ball into an open net with :09 left in the first half for the game-winner. In a scramble in front of the net, junior Edda Gardarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) pushed the loose ball to Sikes for the winning score. The goal was Sikes' second in as many games and team-leading sixth of the season.
The win marks the sixth straight season the Spiders have registered 10 or more victories in a single season. The program is just seven years old.
