Women's Soccer Hold Off Bonnies, 3-0

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -The University of Richmond remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play, defeating St. Bonaventure, 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at First Market Stadium. The Spiders improve to 6-2-2, 3-0 A-10 while the Bonnies fall to 6-5-0 and 0-3-0 in the A-10.
The Spiders peppered Bonnies goalkeeper Breanne Kraly, firing a season-high 33 shots. Richmond scored the eventual game-winner in the 28th minute when junior Molly Rettig (Hummelstown, Pa.) streaked down the left side, crossing five yards out to speedy freshman Annette Isham (Denver, Colo.) who blasted the ball past Kraly. The goal was Isham's team-leading fifth of the season and third score in the past two games.
Richmond continued its offensive attack in the second half, controlling the ball for most of the stanza. In the 79th minute, Rettig again sent a beautiful cross into the box, Isham tipped the pass to junior Jessica Marino (Poland, Ohio) who netted her fourth goal of the season. The home team stretched their lead eight minutes later when the freshmen tandem of Christa Sikes (Huntsville, Ala.) and Kaile Partridge (Jupiter, Fla.) teamed up. Sikes delivered the ball to a waiting Partridge who fired high into the box from 15 yards out for the final tally of the afternoon.
The Spiders are on the road for their next four match-ups. Richmond is in the state of Ohio next weekend, first taking on Xavier on Friday, October 11 before facing Dayton on Sunday, October 13.
