Field Hockey Advances to NCAA Play-In Game

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond field hockey team, champion of the Atlantic 10 conference, will host Rider University, champion of the Northeast Conference, in the NCAA Play-In game on Tuesday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m.
Richmond, in only its second year of Atlantic 10 competition, won the title with its 4-1 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday. On Friday, the first-seeded Spiders defeated Saint Joseph's 1-0 to advance to the championship game.
The Spiders have won their last 13 games on their way to compiling a 16-6 overall record, 6-0 in conference action. The 16 wins are the most recorded in the program's history.
Rider (12-7) won the NEC Championship with a 2-0 victory over first-seeded Quinnipiac in the title game at Monmouth University on November 3.
The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the 16-team NCAA National Championship Tournament, held November 15-16 at four campus sites. The Final Four will be played November 22-24 at the University of Louisville.
