Women's Basketball Signs Kelly Roche

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond head coach Joanne Boyle announced today that Kelly Roche (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Spiders for the 2003-2004 season.
Roche, at 6'3, is a versatile forward who can finish in the paint but can also step out and hit the three. As a junior at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., she averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game for coach Brian Giorgis.
Roche was honored as an All-State selection in addition to earning All-League honors. She is ranked 40th in the All-Star Girl's Report (ASGR) listing of Top Forwards in the class of 2003. After helping lead Our Lady of Lourdes to their fourth consecutive NYSPHSAA Class B Championship, the Lady Warriors finished the 2001-02 season with a Top-5 ranking. In the championship game against Comsewogue, Roche contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds and four steals in the 67-55 victory.
The 2002-03 women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, November 17 for their final exhibition game against Team Concepts. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
