Jill Murphy Earns Atlantic 10 Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior Jill Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.) was named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey co-Player of the Week following her play in the Spiders' two victories last week.
Murphy scored the game-winning goal over cross-town rival VCU in a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening. The game-winner, which came in the second overtime period, was Murphy's first goal of the season.
In national statistics, Murphy is currently tied for second with 17. She has left her mark on the University of Richmond record book, becoming the all-time career assist leader with her 24th career assist and currently holds the record with 29. She also holds the top position in assists in a single season with her current 17.
Richmond won its first Atlantic 10 regular season championship and will be the top seed as it hosts the conference championships this weekend. The Spiders begin play on Friday, November 8 at noon when they face fourth-seeded St. Joseph's.
