UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's swimming and diving team finished the season ranked No. 4 in the Mid-Major Poll conducted by CollegeSwimming.com. The Atlantic 10 champion Spiders finished the season with a record of 11-2 under the guidance of first-year head coach Matthew Kredich.
Richmond recorded a total of 245.21 points, trailing only Miami (Ohio), George Mason, and Western Kentucky. Atlantic 10 opponents Massachusetts and St. Bonaventure also found their way into the Top 25 at No. 12 and No. 21, respectively. Delaware (No. 11) and Navy (No. 16) are two other schools that the Spiders swam against this season, as Richmond defeated both schools in dual meet competition.
Rankings in the poll are based upon a Power Point system that CollegeSwimming.com utilizes. Two swimmers are entered for each individual event and points are awarded to the team based on the swimmer's time. An athlete may only score in three individual events, but can also be a member of both relays. One and three meter diving scores are also entered into the calculation.
