Richmond Earns Two Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior Carrie Aitken earned Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Player of the Week and freshman Joe Mallory earned Atlantic 10 Track Rookie of the Week it was announced today.
A native of Paxton, Mass., Aitken scored six goals in Richmond's 15-6 Atlantic 10 win at La Salle on April 21. The attack artist took only seven shots and picked up four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
After 15 games this spring, Aitken leads the team with 44 goals and ranks second with 52 points. Her six tallies against the Explorers tied a single-game team high this season. She now has 129 goals in 59 career games.
Also a member of the Spiders' football team, Mallory won two events in just his second collegiate track meet. The Montpelier, Va. native won both the long jump (22-5.25) and the triple jump (48-9.0) at the Metro Invitational in Emmitsburg, Md. Both marks were season highs for Mallory.
The lacrosse team hosts Saint Joseph's in the regular-season finale for Senior Day at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26. The track & field team returns to action at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Richmond, Va. on May 4-5.
