Field Set for Women's Lacrosse A-10 Championships

The University of Richmond(11-5, 6-1) is seeded second in the fourth annual Verizon Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, which takes place Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 at Duquesne University's Rooney Field. The Spiders will meet third-seeded Massachusetts (8-7, 5-2) in the second semifinal match at 1:00pm.
Friday's semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at 2:00pm to declare the Atlantic 10 champion. The winner will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Richmond is led offensively by attackers Carrie Aitken and Polly Purcell. The senior ranks second in the A-10 with 50 goals (a new UR single season record), while her 59 points are fourth-best. Aitken is ranked eighth in the country in goals made per game (3.13). She has netted six goals a piece in the Spiders last two games. Purcell, a sophomore tranfer from Boston University, has made an immediate impact for the Spiders in her first season. She currenly ranks third in the league with 65 points on 37 goals and 28 assists. In addition, Purcell is 13th in the nation in points per game (4.06). Six Spiders in total have more than 20 goals this season including juniors Kristy Gallagher and Katie Dolan who have scored 26 and 25, respectively. The Spiders scoring offense is eighth-best in the country (12.563).
