Women's Swimming Sinks James Madison

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond's swimming team (5-4) defeated James Madison 136 to 106. The Spiders earned ten first-place finishes, with the majority of the squad finishing in the top three.
Richmond sophomore standout Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) continued her solid season by winning both the 50- (25.11) and 100-yard (53.65) freestyles. Junior teammate Maureen Sabri (Chambersburg, Pa.) finished a close second place in the 50-yard freestyle. Senior Elizabeth Cook (Rockville, Va.) swam a notable 10:33.32 1000-yard freestyle to take first.
Freshman Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) finished first in the 200-yard medley with a time of 2:12:94. Boncher also took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.04. Teammates sophomore Jill Squires (Grafton, Va.) and freshman Anne Kirchner (Winter Park, Fla.) finished with the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle for the Spiders.
Freshman Stephanie Pyle (Silver Springs, Md.) finished an impressive first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Spider swimming returns poolside next Friday, January 17 at Wagner and Saturday, January 18 at Columbia.
