Richmond Student-Athletes Named To Conference Honor Roll

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Four student-athletes from the University of Richmond earned conference accolades from the Atlantic 10 today, as announced by the league. Senior Kevin Rhue was selected as cross country's Co-Performer of the Week, while freshmen John Ciccarelli and Amanda Russell were named Rookie of the Week. For women's soccer, freshman Brooke Binswanger was deemed Co-Rookie of the Week.
Co-Rookie of the Week Binswanger (Memphis Tenn.) scored one goal in all three of last week's contest. She netted the game-winner against VCU, scored the second goal and assisted on the third in the 3-0 win over Duquesne, then tallied the sole goal in the 2-1 fall to St. Bonaventure.
As the second Spider to cross the finish line, Rookie of the Week Ciccarelli (South Bury, Conn.) finished ninth overall with a 25:35.02 time to assist his team in their second place finish at the Walt Disney Classic in Orlando, Fla. This is the fourth time Ciccarelli has received this honor and the third consecutive week.
Rhue (Virginia Beach, Va.) received Performer of the Week honors after his 25:23.28 fourth place finish in the Walt Disney Classic. He led the Spiders, who placed second overall in the meet, to 73 points.
Russell (North Bay, Ont.) was named Rookie of the Week after her 18:16.46 fifth place run. She assisted teammate Lyndsey Webber in the team's first place score of 53 points, 22 points ahead of top-ranked University of Florida. This is the fourth time she has been honored and the third consecutive week.
