Spiders Blank Flyers At First Market Stadium

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Junior Olina Vidarsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland) registered the University of Richmond women's soccer game-winning goal in the 1-0 shutout of Dayton today at First Market Stadium. The Spiders improve their record to 7-6-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while the Flyers fall to 8-4-1 overall and a 4-2-0 conference mark.
Richmond opened the game in the fourth minute when Vidarsdottir tallied her second goal of the season off passes from juniors Whitney Sikes (Charlotte, N.C.) and Meghan Ogilvie (Springfield, Va.).
Richmond was outshot 11-8. Senior goalkeeper Megan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) tallied three saves, recording her fifth shutout of the season, while Flyer goalie Sarah West registered five saves in the game.
The Spiders will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24th against Temple at First Market Stadium.
