
Lacrosse Announces Team Captains

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond head coach Sue Murphy has announced that four seniors, Libby Berlacher, Mandy Bourquin, Polly Purcell and Jen Cielewich will serve as team captains for the 2004 season.
"I was pleased to announce these four seniors as the 2004 Lacrosse captains. It is great to have four individuals that have a positive impact both on and off the field. Their passion for the game and commitment to our success is evident in their daily work ethic. I am looking forward to working with these leaders and taking the next step for Richmond Lacrosse," Murphy commented.
As an attack, Berlacher started all 17 games last season and finished second on the team with 37 goals as she recorded seven hat tricks. A member of both the Atlantic 10 All-Conference and All-Championship Teams, she led the conference in ground balls with 68.
Starting all 17 contests as a defender, Bourquin registered 26 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. She has appeared in 50 games throughout her career at Richmond and has scored eight goals.
A second-year team captain, Cielewich started all 17 games last season and tallied seven goals and seven assists. Playing in the midfield, she recorded 31 ground balls and 26 draw controls.
Purcell started all 17 contests as an attack and led the team with 44 goals and 24 assists. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team and the Brine IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-South Team after finishing tenth in the county in points per game (4.0).
