THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
* Sophomore Stacy Tutt returned to the quarterback position at UMass and went 11-for-21 for 99 yards. After spending the first eight games at wide receiver, Tutt returned to his natural spot and also ran for 70 yards and a score.
* The last time Richmond played at Parsons Field (Oct. 20, 2001) was Huskie quarterback Shawn Brady's first career start. On his first rush he ran 77 yards and accounted for the only score of the afternoon in a 7-0 Northeastern win.
* After the Spiders won the first five games in this series, the Huskies have rebounded to win four of the last five. Richmond still holds a 6-4 advantage all-time.
* The last time Richmond won at Northeastern was Oct. 24, 1998, a 21-20 victory. The Huskies scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter but could not tie the score with a successful point after.
* With his 12-tackle performance at UMass (Nov. 8), junior Antoine Newsome matched sophomore David Freeman atop the Spiders' tackle chart with a team-high 58. Newsome leads the defense with 34 solo stops.
* Jim Reid is 4-4 during his Richmond career in his final road game of the regular season. The Spiders have won their road finale in three straight years, including last fall's 35-13 win at William & Mary (Nov. 23).
* Richmond will host William & Mary in the Spiders' final regular-season game at 1 p.m. on Nov. 22. It will be the 113th all-time meeting between the two schools -- 4th most in college football.
GAME NOTES
For Boston ... Once called "The Athens of America" because of all the educational institutions housed in Boston, the largest city in New England has been kind to the visiting Spiders ... Richmond is 7-5 on the road against Northeastern (3-2) and Boston University (4-3) ... Neighboring Chestnut Hill has not been quite the same host as Boston College went 3-1 against the Spiders from 1951-65.
Back Under Center ... Sophomore Stacy Tutt returned to quarterback for the first time since he led Richmond to a 35-13 win against William & Mary in last fall's season finale (Nov. 23) ... Tutt was 11-for-21 throwing for 99 yards and also ran for 70 yards and a touchdown ... Tutt still leads the team with 40 receptions for 493 yards (54.8 yards/game).
Twenty-Somethings ... Sophomore kicker Joseph Fore is 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) kicking this season after making his last three attempts ... He is 2-for-2 from 40-49 yards, but had struggled from close, missing his first four from 20-29 yards, before this current streak of three consecutive successful field goals (25, 26, 26).
Scoring Streak ... The last time the Spiders played at Parsons Field (Oct. 20, 2001) was also the last time Richmond was shutout in a game (7-0) ... Since that day, the Spiders have scored in 25 straight contests ... Before being blanked by the Huskies, Richmond had gone 63 straight without a bagel on the scoreboard.
Touches of Gray ... Redshirt freshman Lance Gray is the first Spider to lead the team in tackles -- by himself -- twice this season ... Gray recorded 13 tackles against Furman (Sept. 20) and at Massachusetts (Nov. 8) ... He is currently fifth on the team with 43 tackles despite missing four games with injury ... Gray leads the team with six tackles for loss.
Back To Norm ... During the first eight games of the 2003 season the tables were turned on offense ... Only once did Richmond gain more yards on the ground than through the air (144-134 at Furman/Sept. 20), a feat that occurred quite often under head coach Jim Reid during his first eight years ... In the Spiders' loss at UMass, Richmond returned to normalcy, gaining 167 yards on the ground (second most of the season) and 99 through the air -- the lowest total of the season.
