Huskies' Defense Stymies Spiders

BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) - Tim Gale rushed for 202 yards and a touchdown and Shawn Brady passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth as Northeastern defeated Richmond, 45-0, on Saturday.
Northeastern's defense recorded five sacks and held Richmond to 107 yards rushing on 43 carries to hold the Spiders (2-8, 1-7 Atlantic 10) scoreless.
The Huskies (7-4, 5-3) took command early, scoring three times in the first quarter for a 21-0 advantage. Gale scored first on a 53-yard run down the left sidelines at 13:00. Peter Harris scored on a 17-yard run at 12:19 and Quintin Mitchell scored on a 5-yard pass from Brady at 5:29.
The first two scores were set up by Richmond fumbles.
A third Richmond fumble set up a 53-yard field goal by Miro Kesic. Northeastern went up 31-0 when Brady hit Corey Parks with a 15-yard scoring pass at 5:21 in the second quarter.
Richmond's best scoring chance came in the third quarter when they were stopped on downs at the Northeastern 6-yard line after a drive that took nearly seven minutes.
Northeastern finished the scoring in the third quarter on an 8-yard keeper by Brady and a 26-yard scoring pass from Brady to Parks.
Brady was 8-for-10 passing for 150 yards, while Harris carried 11 times for 116 yards.
Stacy Tutt was 17-for-22 for 185 yards for Richmond.
