Four Field Hockey Student-Athletes Honored

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Four student-athletes from the University of Richmond field hockey team were selected to the 2003 STX/NFHCA Division I All-Region teams. Sophomore Allie Howard was named to the South Region first team and senior Lydia Decembrino, junior Laura Hur and freshman Inge van Bogerijen were named to the South Region second team.
Howard was the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year and named to the 2003 All-Conference team. The midfielder led the A-10 in points (43) and goals (15) and was most recently ranked 18th in the country in points (Nov. 10). Howard was the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week (Sept. 29).
On the most recent national statistics (Nov. 10), Decembrino was tied for 10th with six defensive saves, she later recorded her seventh against California, Berkeley on November 11. She was named to the 2003 A-10 All-Conference team and tallied three of four penalty strokes for the season.
Hur leads the Spiders in assists with 14 and is ranked third in the all-time records for single season assists. The forward was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week (Oct. 27) and selected to the 2003 A-10 All-Conference team.
van Bogerijen registered 10 goals and five assists for the season and was a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week (Sept. 15, Oct. 20). The midfielder has started all 23 contests this year and is tied for ninth in all-time records for single season goals.
