Field Hockey's Allie Howard Named Offensive Player of the Year

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Allie Howard (Lancaster, Pa.) continues to make her mark on the University of Richmond field hockey team as she was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, announced by the league today. This marks the first time Howard has received the honor and the third consecutive year a Spider was selected as offensive player of the year.
As a sophomore, Howard has not only made her mark at Richmond, but also in the nation. She is currently ranked 20th in points with 37 and assists with 11. Howard has anchored the Spider offense that has outscored conference opponents, 23-3 and leads the league in points and goals with 13 and is second in assists.
Joining Howard on the All-Conference team is senior Lydia Decembrino (Hummelstown, Pa.), junior Laura Hur (Chevy Chase, Md.) and sophomore Michelle La Force (Centreville, Va.).
Decembrino leads a defense which has limited A-10 opponents to 14 shots, three goals and nine penalty corners. She is currently ranked 10th in the country with six defensive saves and tied for 11th with .316 DSPG. Decembrino has tallied one assist and two goals, including a game-winner, for the season.
Hur is currently ranked 15th in the nation and leads the Atlantic 10 with 12 assists. She has recorded three goals for the Spiders and was selected as Player of the Week (Oct. 27). La Force is a key component to the Spiders' defense and has tallied one goal and four assists for the year.
