RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's basketball team is back in action on the east coast this week, facing Georgetown University on Thursday, December 4 at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast via the internet at www.guhoyas.com
Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Spiders (3-1) earned a second place finish in the Lady Rebel Shootout after falling to host UNLV 77-67 in the championship contest. In opening round action, the Spiders defeated Georgia Southern 59-48 behind Kate Flavin's game-high 18 points. Flavin and sophomore Saona Chapman were both named to the All-Tournament team.
Flavin, who was honored as this week's Atlantic 10 women's basketball Player of the Week, currently ranks second in the conference in rebounding and third in scoring. She is the only player to rank among the Top Five in both catagories.
The Hoyas (4-0) were last in action on Saturday, November 29, when they defeated New Hampshire 61-60 off a last-second lay-up from BIG EAST co-Player of the Week Rebekah Brunson.
The two teams have met nine times in the past with the Hoyas holding a 5-4 advantage. Last season, Richmond recorded a 79-65 win in the opening round of the WNIT.
