U.S. Open Swimming Championships Invites One Spider

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-This past weekend sophomore Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) was invited to compete at the U.S. Open Swimming Championships in Federal Way, Wash. The meet featured some of the best swimmers, both past and present, in the world including several record holders, over 30 former Olympians, and swimmers from 27 different countries.
While swimming in a 50 meter pool, which is used for international competition compared to the 25 yard pool used for college and high school competition, Boncher finished 15th overall in the 50 freestyle (26.41), 15th in the 100 fly (102.65), and 18th in the 100 free (57.09). She achieved the qualifying standards for the 2004 US Olympic Trials, the selection meet for the 2004 Olympic Team, in all three events.
