Lacrosse to Participate in South of the Border Tournament

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- The University of Richmond lacrosse team starts off the 2003 season participating in the annual South of the Border Tournament exhibition games on February 15 and 16 in Chapel Hill, N.C. The two-day event, hosted by North Carolina and Duke, features 33 teams and games will run simultaneously on four fields in Chapel Hill and one field in Durham.
The Spiders return 15 players from the 2002 squad that recorded the most wins in program history (12) and earned a second-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Kristy Gallagher (Chatsworth, N.J.), the conference's co-Defensive Player of the Year last season, Katie Dolan, an All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2002, (Towson, Md.) and Jen Cielewich (Severna Park, Md.) will serve as tri-captains on this year's team.
The Spiders open the 2003 campaign at Lacrosse Field on February 28 when they host 2002 national runner-up Georgetown at 3:30 p.m.
