Swimming Increases Lead At Atlantic 10 Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men and Richmond's women remain leaders after the second day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Flickinger Aquatic Center.
The Bonnies totaled 520.5 points while Massachusetts remained in second place with 509. La Salle (241) is third followed by George Washington (234) in fourth place, Xavier (233) in fifth, Fordham (221) in sixth, Rhode Island (216.5) in seventh and Duquesne (136) in eighth. St. Bonaventure's seniors Lucas Kneeland and Borut Poje, sophomore Seth Johnson and freshman Adrian Blaszczak joined to take first in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:31.74. Poje claimed gold in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.53 and Blaszczak won the 100-yard breast in 56.11. The relay team of Poje, junior Morgan Hagerman, sophomore Kyle Bull and freshman Mike Petock took first in the 800-yard free relay with a time of 6:45.30.
Massachusetts' senior Tommy Keane claimed gold in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:02.97 while classmate Conner Townsend won the 100-yard butterfly in 50.60. Senior Ryan Zaucha took first in the 100-yard back with a time of 51.79.
On the women's side, Richmond (563) built a 165-point lead over second place St. Bonaventure, which has 398 points. George Washington (331) is third followed by Massachusetts (284) in fourth, Fordham (253) in fifth, Duquesne (207) in sixth, Rhode Island (203) in seventh, Xavier (169) in eighth and La Salle (140) is ninth.
St. Bonaventure freshman Paige Crimmin set an A-10 record in the 100-yard back with her time of 57.11.
Richmond's sophomore Mary Adams set an A-10 record in the 400-yard IM with her gold winning time of 4:20.07. Juniors Mo Sabri and Calla DeRuosi, sophomore Laura Thomas and freshman Brooke Boncher teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:46.57. Boncher won the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.28. Junior Kristen Fagley took first in the 200-yard free in 1:52.93. DeRuosi claimed the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:04.68. The team of Adams, senior Elizabeth Cook, junior Casey Dluhos and freshman Anne Kirchner won the 800-yard free relay in 7:31.17.
Massachusetts' senior Kate Allery took gold in the one-meter diving with a score of 270.40.
