No. 10 Baseball Splits With St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - Senior David Reaver (Union Bridge, Md.) led Richmond (20-4, 4-1 A-10) to a 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure (11-8, 3-2 A-10) in the second game of the windy afternoon. Richmond fell to the Bonnies in the first game 1-0.
The Spiders jumped to the lead in the first frame of the nightcap, scoring two runs. Junior centerfielder Bryan Pritz (Wilmette, Ill.) led off, singling to left field. Reaver followed with another single into right field and advanced Pritz to third. After stealing second, Pritz scored and Reaver advanced to third on a throwing error by Bonnie catcher Damien Blakeley. First baseman Jim Fasano (Horsham, Pa.) plated Reaver on a groundout.
Richmond added the third and final run in the third inning. Reaver ripped a long right field triple and then scored on senior Vito Chiaravalloti's (Middletown, Md.) right field single.
Sophomore righty Jason Bolinski (Hockessin, Del.) held the Bonnies to five hits in his second complete game of the season. Bolinski struck out eight in Richmond's first shut out.
In the first game of the afternoon, Richmond suffered its first Atlantic 10 loss. Spider hurler Tim Stauffer (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) fanned nine, while allowing on one run. Stauffer threw his fourth complete game.
Designated hitter Greg Osganian touched home on a Jimmy Basnight single to take the 1-0 win. St. Bonaventure's Kyle Johnson improved to 4-1 after striking out four and allowing only four hits. For the second game, starter Kevin Niemczura took the loss after allowing nine hits and two earned runs.
Richmond and St. Bonaventure conclude the series tomorrow, Saturday, March 29 at Noon at McGraw-Jennings Field (Olean, N.Y.).
