Baseball Falls at Radford, 13-3

RADFORD, Va. - Sophomore Jim Fasano (Horsham, Pa.) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, but it was not enough, as Radford beat Richmond 13-3 at Demon Center Park. Richmond falls to 39-9, while Radford improved to 11-23.
The Spiders scored one run in the first frame after centerfielder Bryan Pritz (Wilmette, Ill.) drew a leadoff walk. Fasano stroked a RBI single to score Pritz. In the second, senior Michael Galligan (Woodbury, N.Y.) reached base after being hit by Radford pitcher Justin Tubbs. He then crossed home on a Bobby LeNoir (Wilmington, Del.) groundout double play.
Richmond added their final run of the day in the third, to tie the game at 3-3. Freshman Ben Zeskind (Miami, Fla.) belted a double down the right field line. Fasano followed with his first double to send Zeskind home.
Radford scored three runs in the second and added a run in the fifth for a 4-3 lead. Shortstop Stuart Ritchie led the Highlanders going 4-for-5 with three runs.
Richmond's Matt McLoughlin (San Diego, Calif.) took the loss after throwing 5.0 innings. He gave up eight hits and two earned runs to fall to 6-3 on the season. Radford's Tubbs improved to 6-0 after allowing nine hits and three earned runs.
Richmond returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7 at Virginia Tech. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
