UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team has announced a challenging 2003-04 schedule that includes six teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament. In addition to their sixteen game spring schedule, the Spiders will compete in several fall events, starting with the annual Alumni Game in mid-October.
In the fall, Richmond will play at two all day tournaments, at George Mason and Duke, and host Longwood at Lacrosse Field. On October 22, the Spiders will take on James Madison and William & Mary in Harrisonburg, Va.
In the spring, Richmond will face five teams that ended 2003 ranked among the Top 20, including the Spiders' season-opener against #6 Georgetown and a home-opener against #3 Virginia. Throughout the season, Richmond will also take on #4 Duke, #11 Ohio State and #19 Old Dominion.
In addition to Georgetown, Virginia, Ohio State and Duke, Richmond will take on two other squads that participated in last year's NCAA Tournament in Temple and American.
Last season, the Spiders compiled a 10-7 record and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championships for the second consecutive year.
