Swimming Racks In Conference Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.--Junior Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) and freshman Michelle Coombs (Newburg, N.Y.) of the University of Richmond women's swimming and diving team swept the conference awards, as announced by the A-10 today, by garnering the Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively.
Adams earns her first 'Performer of the Week' title this season after claiming first place victories in three events on Jan. 9th to lead the Spiders past GWU (200 IM, 2:07.12; 100 breast, 1:08.19; 200 medley relay member 148.97) She also finished second overall in the 200 IM and 100 breast on Jan. 10th in a tri-meet with Clemson and Davidson. She was third overall in the 200 free to defeat Davidson swimmers.
Coombs receives her second 'Rookie of the Week' honor after she took first place in the tri-meet on Jan. 10th in the 200 free (1:53.75) and was part of the 200 free relay team that also won first place in the meet. She placed second in the 100 back with a time of 58.52, which was 3/10ths of a second behind the first place finisher. She was the lead leg on the 200 medley relay team that finished atop Gardner-Webb on Jan 9th and claimed first in the 100 back (59.67). In addition, she finished second in the 200 free (1:55.69).
