UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Junior Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) claimed three first-place finishes to lead the University of Richmond women's swimming and diving team past Columbia, 144-93 today.
Adams was victorious in the 400 IM (4:24.44), 200 IM (2:06.30) and 200 breast (2:22.83).
Sophomore Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) and freshman Michelle Coombs (Newburg, N.Y.) both won two individual events and shared a relay victory in the win. Boncher secured the 50 free (23.59) and 200 fly (2:03.95), while Coombs claimed the 100 (52.74) and 200 free (1:53.16). Seniors Calla DeRuosi (Richmond, Va.) and Maureen Sabri (Chambersburg, Pa.) combined with Boncher and Coombs in the 200-medley relay win at 1:47.90.
First-place finishes also went to junior Laura Thomas (Sydney, Australia) in the 200 back (2:06.24), freshman Holly Hinds (Andover, Mass.) in the 500 free (5:01.92) and the 200 relay team (1:39.70) made-up of seniors DeRuosi and Sabri and freshmen Emily Bateman (Somers Point, N.J.) and Erica Moschner (Lake Forest, Ill.).
The Spiders compete against N.C. State tomorrow, Jan. 18th at noon.
