Women's Golf Ties For First, Loses In Playoff

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After 36 holes at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate, the Richmond women's golf team was tied with host Yale atop the leaderboard. The Bulldogs won the team title on the first hole of a playoff, pushing the Spiders to second, matching their highest finish in the three years of the program.
The Spiders improved by six strokes on Sunday at the par-70 Yale University Golf Course to finish with a 650 (328-322). They made up four strokes on the Elis after yesterday's first round to equal their second-place finish in last spring's CAA Championship.
Freshman Ally Caffrey led Richmond and finished third overall after carding a 157 (80-77). Sophomore Lauren Brown placed fourth at the event with a two-round 158 (83-75). She was seven strokes better than junior Lauren Ritter who tied for 13th (80-85--165).
Sophomore Natasha Lopez Moreira (91-94--185) also competed for Richmond. Junior Lesley Monachino fired a 168 (87-81), tying for 23rd, while playing as an individual.
Rollins College's Charlotte Campbell won the individual medal with a 148 (73-75).
The Spiders complete the fall schedule at the Ross Resorts Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C. from Nov. 1-2.
