UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Spider Field Hockey's junior Holly Cram picked up her second consecutive Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor from the conference, A-10 officials announced Monday. The Glasgow, Scotland, native, who was selected as the Player of the Week last Monday, has now been honored three times by the league.
Cram tallied a total of 12 points in the Spiders' two wins over the weekend. The junior posted three goals and two assists Saturday afternoon in an 8-1 win against West Chester. A day later she scored twice to help Richmond top La Salle, 6-1.
Cram now ranks atop the team in points (43), goals (18), assists (7), and game-winners (7). Her 18 goals ranks tied for fourth on Richmond's single-season list, while her 43 points are good enough to tie for second on the Spiders' single-season list.
The midfielder is on pace to tie the single-season goals record of 22, currently held by Dawn Reyerson, who scored 22 in 1993. Cram is also on course to break Reyerson's 11-year record of 52 single-season points by the end of the regular season.
The Spiders, who extended a conference regular season win streak to 17 with the two weekend wins, hit the road for their final two conference contests Saturday and Sunday. Richmond will face Rhode Island at noon, Saturday, Oct. 23 in Kingston, R.I., then travel to Amherst, Mass., Sunday, Oct. 24 for a noon match against UMass.
