UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Defending national champion Delaware visits UR Stadium this Saturday as the Spiders host Senior Day. The final home game of the 2004 season kicks off at 1 p.m. following the Senior Day presentation.
Maurice Newbill blocked a last-second field goal attempt to preserve a 15-13 Spider victory against Delaware, who was ranked No. 9, the last time the Blue Hens were in Richmond. This time Delaware enters the game ranked No. 11.
Richmond travels east on I-64 next week for the season finale at William & Mary.

STORYLINES
* Saturday's contest marks the final home game for Richmond's nine fifth-year seniors. The Spiders haven't won their final regular-season home game since 2000 when Richmond defeated JMU 21-2 on Nov. 11.
* The last time Delaware visited UR Stadium was Sept. 7, 2002 when Spider senior Maurice Newbill blocked a potential game-winning, 18-yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining to preserve a 15-13 win against the ninth-ranked Blue Hens.
* Delaware's last win at UR Stadium came on Oct. 7, 2000 (24-17).
* Senior Antoine Newsome, the lone Spider from Delaware, enters his final game against the Blue Hens. The safety has started all nine games this fall and made his third career interception last week against Towson.
* Junior QB Stacy Tutt moved into ninth on UR's all-time single-season passing list with 202 yards against Towson. In nine games, Tutt has thrown for 1,846 yards, 104 shy of Greg Lilly in 1991 that is eighth.
* The Spiders posted their first shutout since Oct. 26, 2002 (26-0 at Rhode Island) with the 24-0 blanking of Towson last Saturday. It was Richmond's first shutout at UR Stadium since Oct. 19, 2002 (26-0 vs. James Madison).
* Sophomore linebacker Lance Gray earned Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week with his effort against the Tigers. Gray tied for the team lead with 10 tackles and made a career-high three tackles for loss. Gray also recorded his first interception and fumble recovery.
* The Spiders did not commit a turnover for the first time this season against Towson. Their four turnovers forced was a season high.
* Richmond held the Tigers to 223 yards - a season low by a Spider opponent.
GAME NOTES
Defensive Player of the Week ... Sophomore linebacker Lance Gray earned his first weekly citation from the Atlantic 10 on Sunday when he earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his effort against Towson ... Gray made 10 tackles, three for loss, recorded his first career interception and fumble recovery and broke up three passes ... In his last three games, Gray is averaging 9.8 tackles per game.
Solid Defense ... Richmond held Towson to 223 yards of total offense on Nov. 6, the lowest by a Spider opponent since Oct. 26, 2002 when Rhode Island managed only 194 ... That was also the last time the Spiders posted a shutout ... The Spiders' four forced turnovers against the Tigers is the most since November 23, 2002 when UR forced five against William & Mary in a 35-13 victory.
National Champion Foe ... The only other time Richmond faced I-AA's defending national champion was in 1999 when the Spiders lost to UMass 33-6 on Nov. 9 ... The year prior, the Minutemen defeated Georgia Southern, 12-3, to win the title.
Coaching Connections ... Delaware's defensive coordinator, David Cohen, served as Dave Clawson's DC and linebackers coach from 1999-2001 at Fordham ... He served the final two seasons as associate head coach ... Blue Hen offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca and Spider recruiting coordinator/linebacker coach Mike Elko served on the same staff at Penn in 2000 ... Elko also coached with UD assistant Craig Cummings at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 2001.
Streaks and Notes ... Junior Stacy Tutt moved to third in the A-10 for total offense (233.1 yards/game) ... While Richmond only has one player from Delaware, the Blue Hens have 11 from Virginia.
