UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Colin Vint and senior Stephen Douglas along with sophomore Amanda Russell earned Atlantic 10 Conference honors Wednesday.
Vint, a forward for the Spider men's soccer club, garnered his second-straight All-Conference first team selection. The Fairfax, Va., native led the Spiders in goals and assists in 2004. Every match Vint recorded a goal against A-10 opponents he also provided an assist to a teammate. He was named a Preseason All-Conference selection prior to the 2004 campaign.
Douglas, a back on the men's soccer team, was selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team. The Richmond, Va., native recorded five points in 2004 for the Spiders to rank third on the team. Douglas, who played in the front for most of his career, was moved to the backfield to provide leadership for a young Richmond squad. Douglas' two assists against conference opponents ranked second on the team.
Russell, a native of North Bay, Ontario, has led Richmond's women's cross country team in all six of its events in 2004. She recently placed third at the Atlantic 10 Conference meet in Pittsburgh, Pa., running the 5K race in 17:56.0. The sophomore has finished in the Top-4 of every 5K race she has run and led the Spiders with a 61st-place finish at the Pre-National 6K competition.
