LAST TIME OUT
In their final game before the holiday break, the Spiders defeated Florida 79-77 in double overtime. Kate Flavin scored a career-high 36 points, including the game-winning basket with 2.2 seconds left, and sophomore Christina Campion added her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
RICHMOND AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE
The Spiders have an all-time record of 7-1 against members of the Ivy League. In the past, they have played Cornell (1-0), Pennsylvania (6-0) and Princeton (0-1).
PERFECT RECORD
Richmond is currently the only Atlantic 10 conference school to still remain undefeated and one of just six of 324 Division I schools with a unblemished record (as of 12/26). With their win over Florida (12/21), the Spiders improved to 8-0 for the best opener since the 1970-71 season. In 1970-71, Richmond won 13 straight games and ended the season without a loss.
SHARING THE WEALTH
Saona Chapman is leading the Spiders, and the conference, in assists and ranks seventh in the country. She is averaging over two assists more than the player that ranks second in the league. Chapman recorded a double-double with a 19-point, ten-assist performance against Georgetown (12/1) and was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double. She finished 47th in the country last year in assists per game (5.2) while recording 5+ assists in 22 games.
STANDOUT SOPHOMORE
Christina Campion is averaging 32.0 mpg and ranks third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding. She has currently recorded double-digit points in five games this year and recorded her first double-double of the season against Florida (12/21) with a 13-point, 11-rebound performance. In the Spiders' last ten games of the 2003-04 season, she averaged a double-double with 10.7 ppg and 10.7 rpg. During that span, she recorded five double-doubles and was one rebound short in an additional three games.
