Student-Athletes Earn All-Conference Accolades

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-18 student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First and Second Teams after their performances in both the A-10 Swimming and Diving and Track and Field Championships held this past weekend.
The Swimming and Diving team set 10 new school records while claiming their third conference title, in as many years. Leading the team with 60 points was sophomore Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.). As the 2004 Most Outstanding Performer, Boncher is joined on the All-Conference First Team by seniors Maureen Sabri (Chambersburg, Pa.), Calla DeRuosi (Richmond, Va.), Casey Dluhos (Savannah, Ga.) and Laura Thomas (Sydney, Australia), junior Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.), and freshmen Holly Hinds (Andover, Mass.), Megan Riley (Towson, Md.) and 2004 Rookie of the Year Michelle Coombs (Newburg, N.Y.).
The Second Team includes Coombs, Dluhos, Riley, Thomas and freshman Caitlin Geary (Andover, Mass.).
Senior Tim Caramore (East Greenbush, N.Y.) led the men's track and field team to a fourth-place finish in the championships. Caramore received First Team honors after capturing a gold medal in the 3000M run. Senior Kevin Rhue (Virginia Beech, Va.) and junior Joe Mallory (Montpelier, Va.) earned Second Team prestige for their accomplishments in the mile and long jump, respectively.
2004 Rookie of the Year Caitlin Smyth (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) headlined for the women's squad in their second-place finish. Smyth took home the gold in the 3000M run and the silver in the mile. Sophomore Nicole Kurtain (Hamilton, N.J.) joins Smyth on the All-Conference First Team list.
Second Team honors were garnered by Smyth, Kurtain, senior Julee Wilson (Chester Springs, Pa.), junior Ashley Bell (Glen Allen, Va.) and sophomore Diana Morse (Harvard, Mass.).
