Brooke Boncher And Mary Adams Prepare For A Lap In The NCAAs

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Sophomore Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) and junior Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) are set to compete in this week's NCAA Swimming Championships from Wednesday, March 18th till Saturday, March 20th in College Station, Texas under the guidance of 2004 A-10 Coach of the Year Matt Kredich.
Boncher, the 2004 Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year, earned an automatic bid to the tournament after a record-setting 22.88 in the opening 50 free leg of the 200 medley relay race. She was named to the All-Tournament team in six events (50 free, 100 free, 100 fly, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay), while setting records in the 100 fly (54.07), 50 free (22.88), 100 free (50.24), 400 free relay (4:23.72) and 200 medley relay (1:45.60).
Adams garnered All-Conference first team honors in six events (200 breast, 200 free, 400 IM, 400 medley relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay) during the Atlantic 10 Championships. Setting individual standards in the 400 IM (4:17.92) and 200 breast (2:18.60), Adams achieved NCAA consideration in both the 200 and 400 IM.
Both Spiders added a new chapter to program history with their first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. Boncher earned a spot in the 50 free, 100 fly and 100 free events, while Adams was selected to swim the 200 and 400 IM races.
