Women's Golf Hosts First Tournament

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Richmond women's golf program will host a 16-team field at the inaugural Spider Spring Invitational at Hunting Hawk Golf Club from Friday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 4th.
Hunting Hawk Golf Club is located beside the Chickahominy River in beautiful Glen Allen, Virginia. The golf course was designed to enable players of all levels to have a quality golf experience. Par for the course is 72 with a total yardage of 24,457.
The host Spiders are coming off a 13th-place finish in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational. Richmond fired a third-round 316 and was paced by sophomore Lauren Ritter (Watchung, N.J.) who carded a three-round 242 (83-79-80) and finished tied for 39th in the event.
The field includes many top teams and individuals, including UNC Wilmington who is ranked among the top-50 Division I women's golf teams. They are led by Becky Berzonski who was the individual medalist at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on March 23rd.
Lauren Smith of Augusta State is ranked No. 113 according to Golfweek.com and received second-place honors in the Seahawk Invitational.
Joining Augusta State, Richmond, and UNC Wilmington at Hunting Hawk Golf Club will be: The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, Hampton, High Point, James Madison, Longwood, Maryland, N.C. State, Radford, Siena, Western Carolina, and Winthrop.
The Spider Spring Invitational tees-off at 6:52 a.m. on Friday. The second round resumes on Saturday at 6:52 a.m., while the last round will tee-off at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
