Baseball Tops George Washington 7-6 in Extra Innings

ARLINGTON, Va. - Bryan Pritz's sacrifice fly in the 10th inning scored David Thomas and the University of Richmond baseball team defeated George Washington 7-6 in the final contest of the three-game conference series this afternoon in Arlington, Va.
Thomas went 4-for-4 including and RBI and Pritz added two hits and three RBI. Matt McKenna and Ben Zeskind also contributed two hits to UR's victory. Four players tallied two hits for the Colonials.
The Colonials (24-14, 9-3) put their first two runs on the board in the first inning and added one a piece in the second and third.
In the fourth inning, the Spiders (18-14, 6-3) answered with two runs of their own. Bryan Pritz's singled to left field.
George Washington's left fielder Anthony Raglani ripped a solo home run in the fifth inning and the score stood at 5-2, before UR scored one run in the sixth. McKenna reached base on an error by GW's catcher Joe Michalski and crossed the plate when Pritz grounded out to third base.
Richmond tied the contest at five in the eighth inning, on two hits. O'Leary reached base on an error by the third baseman and then David Thomas crushed a triple down the left field line allowing O'Leary to score. Dolan grounded out to the third and Thomas crossed the plate.
In the ninth inning, the Spiders tallied one run when Ben Zeskind scored on a single by A.J. Board. The second baseman had reached base on a single to right center to open the inning. The Colonials answered with one run in the bottom of the frame and sent the contest into extra innings.
Thomas singled to the left side to open the 10th and then Pritz flew out to left field allowing Thomas to score the game-winning run.
Nathan Kuchta posted the win for Richmond and his record stands at 4-2 on the season. Derrik Lutz allowed one hit and one run and took the loss for George Washington.
The Spiders return to the field when they travel to take-on William & Mary on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m.
