UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - When the University of Richmond women's lacrosse team has needed goals in their recent games, senior Libby Berlacher (Villanova, Pa./Agnes Irwin) has been the Spiders' most reliable source. In Richmond's last four contests, Berlacher has either led the team in scoring or equaled the high for the game. She has scored in 12 of the 14 games that she has appeared in this year for a total of 26 tallies.
As one of this year's team captains, Berlacher has recorded four hat tricks in 12 appearances. She was selected as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week (4/12) after equaling her previous career-best of six goals against Massachusetts and following it with a three-goal performance versus #4 Duke.
"Libby is one tough player," head coach Sue Murphy stated. "She is best in the 12 meter attack - a weaver in the crowd who loves to finish. I have challenged her over the past three years and have never been disappointed."
She ranks second on the team and in the conference in ground balls and holds the Atlantic 10 Championship single-game record with 10 ground balls against Temple in 2002.
Berlacher broke into the program's Top 10 for both career goals and points earlier in the season and is currently sixth in both categories with 95 goals and 123 points.
The Spiders are back in action at Lacrosse Field on Sunday, April 19 when they host Temple at noon.
