Lacrosse's Polly Purcell Selected to Play in North/South Game

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior Polly Purcell was selected to play in the North/South All-Star Game as announced last week by the IWLCA. The event, an opportunity to showcase the top athletes in women's lacrosse, will be held at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Saturday, June 5 at 3 p.m.
Purcell, one of just 47 Division I seniors invited to the event, ended her career highly ranked in the Richmond record book. Purcell holds the career assist record with 74 and tied for first in career points with 196. In addition, her 122 career goals rank third in the records.
She set a new program high for points in a single-game with ten and tied the high for assists with six in her final game in a Richmond uniform.
In her senior campaign, she led the team in scoring with 39 goals and added 20 assists for a team-high 59 points. She also paced the team in ground balls (57) and caused turnovers (17) and recorded six hat tricks. The Atlantic 10 All-Conference honoree ranked eighth in the country in ground balls per game (3.56).
