UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team's final record of 7-9, 3-4 in the conference, does not accurately reflect their numerous accomplishments on the field this season. The Spiders received national recognition with appearances in the polls and victories over top-ranked opponents while individual players left a lasting mark on the Richmond record books.
Receiving their highest national ranking in almost 20 years, the Spiders held the #18 position in the IWLCA national poll. In non-conference action, Richmond defeated a trio of Top 20 teams in California, William & Mary and Old Dominion.
Richmond ranked 12th in the country in ground balls per game (12.63) and set a program record for draw controls per contest with 12.6.
Senior Polly Purcell became the program's all-time assist leader with 74 and tied the program's mark for career points (196).
Below is an individual review of each player's accomplishments this season.
