Martin Leads Baseball To 7-1 Win Against Dayton

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - A.J. Board crushed a grand slam over the left field wall and Thomas Martin allowed only three hits and one run as the University of Richmond baseball team defeated the University of Dayton 7-1 this afternoon at Pitt Field.
After four scoreless innings, the Spiders (25-17, 12-4 A-10) registered its seven runs on three hits in the fifth inning. The rally began when Alex Wotring and David Thomas reached base on errors and then Chris Dolan was hit-by-pitch. Senior Bryan Pritz hit a two-run single to center, Ben Zeskind singled to right field and knocked in Dolan. Jim Fasano was intentionally walked to load the bases before Board ripped the grand slam.
The Flyers (20-26, 7-12 A-10) posted its lone run of the contest in the seventh inning.
Richmond was lead by Pritz with two hits and two RBI, Zeskind tallied two RBI and four Spiders contributed one hit a piece. Three Dayton players recorded one hit and Chad Liter tallied the RBI.
Martin posted his sixth win of the season and Drew Chesebro took the loss for Dayton after allowing seven runs on six hits.
The Spiders and Flyers conclude their conference series with a doubleheader Saturday at Noon. The first contest will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN Radio 950 beginning at 11:55 a.m.
A pre-game ceremony to honor Richmond's nine seniors will take place prior to the first game on Saturday.
