UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond football team travels to Amherst for a 1 p.m. contest against the ninth-ranked Minutemen this Saturday, fresh off a 34-7 win at VMI. It was the Spiders largest margin of victory since finishing the 2001 campaign with a 35-7 triumph at UMass.
Both teams enjoyed stellar games last Saturday. Spider quarterback Stacy Tutt threw for four touchdowns against the Keydets, while Massachusetts defeated #4 Colgate at home.
The series is split over the last 10 contests while UMass has won each of the past two. A 23-point second half propelled the Minutemen to a 30-17 win last fall.

STORYLINES
* Spider first-year head coach Dave Clawson and first-year UMass head coach Don Brown have faced each other once before, at their previous schools. Clawson's Fordham team defeated Brown's Northeastern squad, 29-24, on Nov. 30, 2002 in the I-AA playoff's first round.
* Junior Stacy Tutt, coming off his best collegiate game, returns to Amherst where he made his first start under center of the 2003 season -- second career. Tutt ran for 70 yards, including a four-yard TD, and passed for 99 more in the loss.
* Tutt's four touchdown passes at VMI tied for the second most in a single game. Greg Lilly holds the program record with five against James Madison on Sept. 12, 1992. It marked the fourth time a Spider QB threw for four, first since Buster O'Brien tossed four against Ohio on Dec. 27 in the 1968 Tangerine Bowl.
* The Spiders are 4-5 in Amherst. Their last win came on Nov. 23, 2001, a 35-7 triumph the day after Thanksgiving. The Spiders have won three of their last four at UMass.
* Richmond has not allowed one big play (25-or-more yards) in its first two games this fall.
* Senior Michael Rogers is the lone Spiders from Massachusetts. The senior offensive lineman calls Bridgewater home. UMass has six players on its roster from Virginia, but none from Richmond.
* Saturday's 34-7 win at VMI snapped a seven-game road losing skid.
* In a back and forth series, no school has won more than two consecutive games except for the six straight the Minutemen posted from 1988-93. UMass has won the last two meetings.
