Spiders Return To Road, At Xavier On Wednesday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - One of the Atlantic 10's most intriguing rivalries resumes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday when Richmond travels to Cincinnati to face Xavier in the Cintas Center.
The visiting team has won the last five regular-season meetings in this series. Richmond won 53-44 at Xavier last winter, holding the Musketeers to 21.0 percent shooting.
The Spiders are coming off a 10-point win against Rhode Island on Saturday, while Xavier lost by two at Fordham on Sunday.
Richmond returns to the Robins Center at Noon on Saturday when George Washington visits.
STORYLINES
*The visiting team has won five of the six regular-season meetings in this series. Xavier won the first meeting between these two programs 72-62 on Jan. 12, 2002 in Cincinnati.
*Richmond has won the last two games at Xavier by an average of 8.5 points. In last year's 53-44 victory against the Musketeers, Richmond held the host school to 21.0 percent shooting - season-lows in points and field goal percentage for Xavier.
*Third-year head coach Jerry Wainwright served as an assistant under Bob Staak at Xavier during the 1984-85 season. The Musketeers went 16-13 that season.
*Senior Jamaal Scott recorded his second double-double at Richmond with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Rhode Island last Saturday. Scott has reached double figures in five of the last six games, leading the team with 12.2 ppg during that span.
*The Spiders committed a season-low seven turnovers against Rhode Island. Richmond also held the Rams to 30.4 percent shooting, the lowest by a Spider opponent this season.
*Richmond is 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 for the second consecutive season. The Spiders were 1-3 in conference action before winning their next three last winter.
*UR's top four scorers this winter combined for 12 points against XU last year.
