Ciccarelli Finishes Ninth At Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - University of Richmond senior John Ciccarelli (South Bury, Conn.) finished ninth out of 295 runners at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday.
Ciccarelli, the reigning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week after his fifth-place finish at the Great American Cross Country Festival, completed the 8K race Saturday in 24:10. Ciccarelli has finished in the top 10 in each of his four races this season.
Richmond junior Amanda Russell (North Bay, Ontario) took 40th place out of 307 runners in the women's race and freshman Katie Van Horn (Glendora, N.J.) followed in 41st place. Russell and Van Horn each ran the 6K in 21:38.8.
The Richmond women's team placed 13th out of 47 teams and the men's squad placed 28th out of 44 teams.
For the women's team, sophomore Kylee Schuler (Chambersburg, Pa.) took 72nd in a time of 22:01.1. Freshman Mary Bertram (Salisbury, N.C.) finished 150th in 22:48.8 and sophomore Shelby Faircloth (Centennial, Colo.) was 160th in 22:54.2.
Freshman Sean McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) was the second Richmond men's runner to cross the finish line in 162nd place (25:50). Sophomore Hunter Willis (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) took 172nd in 25:56 and sophomore Johnathan Molz (East Northport, N.Y.) was 182nd in 26:00. Sophomore Peter Norquist (Shamong, N.J.) wrapped up the Spiders' scoring by taking 231st in 26:26.
The Spiders return to action in two weeks at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 15.
