Howard And La Force Selected To Play In 2005 NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star Game

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond seniors Allie Howard and Michelle La Force have been selected to play in the 2005 NFHCA Division I North/South All-Star Game, Nov. 19, at Louisville, Ky. The two will be part of the South Squad, which includes senior student-athletes from some of the top Division I field hockey programs in the nation.
Howard, a native of Lancaster, Pa., was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of Week, Oct. 10, and has scored five goals and garnered two assists this season. Four of her five goals came in one weekend against A-10 opponents UMass and Rhode Island. Howard, a Second Team All-American selection in 2004, has been part of 82 games in her four-year career at Richmond and has started 81 games. She has passed out a total of 27 assists while playing for the Spiders, which ranks third on the all-time career list at Richmond.
La Force is tied for the team lead this season with nine assists in 14 starts. She has been an integral part of a Spider defense which has limited opponents to a goals-scored average of 1.15 in her four years. She has also helped Richmond to a total of 33 shutouts in her four years. Her 28 career assists rank second on the all-time career list at Richmond behind Spider assistant coach Jill Murphy, and just ahead of Howard.
The North/South All-Star game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19 on the campus of the University of Louisville. The Spiders will hit the road for their last four contests of the regular season beginning Friday, Oct. 21, at La Salle. Game time against the Explorers is set for 3:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
