Field Hockey Back In STX/NFHCA Top-20 Coaches Poll

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Spider field hockey team jumped back into the STX/NFHCA National Coaches Top-20, Nov. 1. The Spiders knocked off No. 20 Virginia, 1-0, last Wednesday and were rewarded by being ranked No. 20 in the most recent edition of the rankings.
The Spiders, who have been ranked as high as No. 16 this season, fell out of the poll after falling at current No. 1 Wake Forest, 4-2, Oct. 2. Since the loss at the three-time defending national champions, the Spiders have gone on an eight-game win streak, which includes seven wins over A-10 opponents and the upset of No. 20 Virginia.
Richmond, 13-5 on the season, is the top seed in this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. The Spiders will face fourth-seeded Saint Joseph's at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Second-seeded Temple, which will serve as the tournament host, will face third-seed UMass at 2 p.m., Nov. 4. The Championships final is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
