
Women's Lacrosse Announces Three Signees

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Sue Murphy announced today that three student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to join the Spiders for the 2006-07 campaign. Murphy was pleased to release that Megan Jendrossek, Erica Marrocco, and Alexis Brennan will comprise the signing class of 2010.
Jendrossek, a midfielder from Odenton, Maryland, joins the Spiders following a stand-out career in both lacrosse and field hockey at Archbishop Spalding High School. This Honorable Mention All-American earned Capital First Team All-County Honors, was an IIAM Lacrosse All-Star last year, earned First Team All-Galaxy Lacrosse Honors her junior year, and was named to the All-Galaxy team last year. Additionally, she was selected as an Academic All-American the past two years, appeared in Anne Arundel County "What's Up" Magazine for athletics, as well as the Baltimore Sun "Varsity" Section for Female Athlete "Snapshot", was named to the Baltimore Sun Anne Arundel County First Team, was named a Washington Post Anne Arundel County Honorable Mention and an Elite 300 All-Star.
Jendrossek also earned numerous field hockey honors, including being named an IAAM Field Hockey All-Star 2005, serving as captain of the squad, earning Washington Post Anne Arundel County Honorable Mention honors, and being named Capital First Team All-County.
Marrocco, a goalie from Duxbury, Massachusetts, is a four-year varsity starting goalkeeper for lacrosse and starting defender for ice hockey for Duxbury High School. She played attack for the Eastern Mass All Star team at the US Lacrosse Youth Festival before switching to goal. This Eastern Mass. Girls Lacrosse Coaches Association State All-Star, serves as captain for both her lacrosse and ice hockey squads, was selected to the Lower New England First Team as sophomore and the All Galaxy First Team, was named a Pilgrim Conference First Team All Star, and was selected to the Patriot Ledger All Scholastic Team.
Recording a 6.15 goals against average, a .0650 save percentage, 201 saves in 19 games as a junior, and a 49-8 varsity record, Marrocco helped her team to the Pilgrim Conference Championships two years in a row, as well as the Mass State Semi-Finals in 2005 when they recorded a 16-2 overall record. In addition, she is a two-time Bay State Games Gold Medalist and was selected to the Mass. Elite All Star Team.
Rounding out the signees is Brennan, a midfielder from Moorestown, N.J. Brennan is an Athletic-Elite All Star, an honor student, the president of FBLA and is graduating in the top 2o percent of her class at Moorestown High School.
The Spiders kick off their season with Maryland on Feb. 26 at College Park Maryland.
