UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Two University of Richmond student-athletes earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors for their outstanding play in last week's contests. Junior Ben Zeskind was named baseball's co-Player of the Week and junior Jackie Swansburg earned women's lacrosse co-Player of the Week recognition.
Swansburg played all 120 minutes in the net for the Spiders in their conference wins over #17 Temple and Saint Joseph's. The Beverly, Mass. native stopped 11 shots against the nationally-ranked Owls to help Richmond defeat Temple on Friday afternoon for the first time since joining the league. In Sunday's win over Saint Joseph's, Swansburg recorded nine saves. She currently ranks third in the league in conference only games with a save percentage of .494.
Zeskind, a native of Miami, Fla., collected two hits in each of Richmond's five games last week, and homered twice in the Spiders' 10-9 win over George Washington on Sunday. Zeskind extended his season-long hit streak to 12 games with five-straight multi-hit games on the week. The outfielder has raised his average nearly 30 points (team-leading .371) in the last week and has hit in 22 of Richmond's last 23 games.
